BGM Select Episode 4: Space Western Melancholy

August 8, 2010

Download this episode by clicking here.

Holiday and other obligations kept me from finishing this episode three weeks ago. Better late than never, I suppose. I think I’ll just turn BGM Select into a monthly thing from now on. Having said all that, I’m especially proud of the music selection here. Hope you like!

Who Knew…

…that there’s a comic that kinda speaks to me?

In this case, replace “Galaga 88″ with “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Arcade Game”, and that’s pretty much a recreation of my past in black and white format.

Just Got Off One Of The Giant Bombcast Podcasts…….

Fangirl much on Metal Gear/ Hideo Kojima, Leigh Alexander? Just kidding there (this coming from a guy who loves all things Mega Man). She brought up a lot of good points on the shitty state of Second Life business and its allegory with Playstation Home, perhaps one of the biggest waste of time Sony has crafted next to the Sony Defense Force.

Go listen! THIS is the kind of honesty and opinion-laced podcasts I want to host with fellow writers and gamers in Singapore. And no, I don’t mean the kind of honesty where it’s like “Oh, we’ll market your podcast as abrasive and edgy, just don’t say this and this” bullshit. No holds barred, baby!

Now I just need to think of a name. GeekSpeak? The Kill Screen? SuperHyperFuntime?

I Can’t Quit You……

…..Wacom tablet. Your allure and felt tip is too great to resist maximum usage. Just a few things to note for the past few days:

- Someone should put air fresheners in public transportation. The combination of “Eau de Old Man” and “Passions of Sweaty Blue-Collar Workers” does not bode well for others sharing the same bus.

- My copy of KOF 2002: Unlimited Match has come, no thanks to my friendly neighborhood videogame store. To be fair, PS2 games are as easy to find as unicorns nowadays. As for the game? It’s fucking awesome, but it’ll be nice if my co-workers could get in on the fun. So far I manage to get one guy, but the rest are enamored by the allure of SFIV. And who can blame them? KOF 2002′s only flaw is that it’s ugly as sin.

- I’m at the last level(I think) of Peggle Nights. The game is kicking my ass real bad.

So, a friend of mine did a nice blurb on the death of the print version of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and a few helpful hints on how to keep print alive (in a way). It’s a great read, so check it out. For those who aren’t so keen to spend a nano-second to press the left mouse button, I’ll just highlight a few of the points he made; basically on what he wants as a reader of print: (more…)

Big Trouble In Little…..

Top Right: Fuu Manchu now holds a gatling gun in the 21st century! Progress, bitches!

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars hasinterrupting my relaxing playtesting of Demon’s Souls and Yakuza 3, and seems to be getting more of my attention simply because it’s portable. Nothing beats the thrill of sifting through garbage to acquire a hidden gun stash to kill different ethnic minority gangs while eating Dim Sum with my relatives. (more…)

NOW I’ve Seen Everything….

March 3, 2009

You’re seeing this video right: a cat mascot for a train station in Japan is getting a train created in his image. Though you have to admit, a country that has a cartoon cat masking a towering corporate entity would eventually have this oddity happening. Oh yeah, there’s also some survival horror lookabout at GAX.

The Ideal Street Fighter IV Boss

Read this awesome piece or I kick you in the face!

So chances are you’ve seen my latest rambling on how, to put it lightly, bland Seth is at being a last boss to a perennial fighting game. You would think that Capcom would at least rip off, I mean, come up with ideas coinciding with my own in terms of creating a badass to cap off the game. So guess what, random Capcom designer of characters in fighting games, if you came by here by pure mistake, I’ll give you a freebie idea.

Speaking of Shin Megami Tensei Spin-Offs

If you think this Atlus isn’t going to port this into English, then you’re behind the times, buddy. It’s hard to believe that a decade or so ago, Atlus couldn’t localize for nuts. Head over here if you don’t believe me. Missing subquest and recolored cast of characters to “Americanize” it for Sony? Yikes.

For a lot more pleasantness, check out our online site next week. It’s gonna be quartercirclepunch-tastic, I tells ya.
